Offshore workers |
Offshore workers are people working for a company in another country. For example the people that answer the phones when you call for help with your computer may be in India. The reason for this is that in India there is an educated workforce who speak English and they will work for much lower wages than North Americans. |
My company will be producing widgets. We will need employees with training in tool and die. This will require the work to be done in Canada and/or the USA. |
A. In Table form list 5 completely different (i.e.
electronic, clothing, appliance, auto) items in your home. They must
not be made in Canada. Each item must be from a different country. (A
TV and VCR would be the same, both electronic items). Why are they
imported rather than made in Canada? Do they fill a want or a need?
The chart must identify the item, where it came from, etc.
B. ATI Technologies page 421
C. Marianne Bertrand and Muttluks page 428
D. Mr. Larson collects Tasmanian license, Mr. Cozens collects Bob-Lo and Amherstburg post cards. How could their ability to collect be impacted by the Global Market Place (Internet)?
Newspaper Assignment In a newspaper or a magazine (not off the Internet) find an article relating to international trade or business. Neatly glue the article onto a sheet of paper. In paragraph form using complete sentences summarize the article. In three separate short paragraphs relate three terms from the list of International Business Terms on page 3 of this assignment. Site the origin of the article. Include all information that would be used in a bibliography. (You may use more than one article if necessary.)
Business Proposal You have an idea for a business (product or
service). You must submit a proposal to Mrs. Rockefeller
in the form of a
letter. The letter is to request funding to get the
business started. Mrs. Rockefeller backs businesses that she feels
will be successful and make money. You must make a plan to convince
Mrs. Rockefeller to lend you the money to set up your
business.
Answer the following questions, in sentence paragaph form, before
composing your letter. Use the answers from these questions to draft
your letter. Use proper letter format as shown on the next page. The
letter should be one or two pages. Be sure to use the answers to the
questions and the brainstorming words for ideas to help you compose
the letter.
The table below offers a few samples of products and services that
might give you an idea for a product or service for your project.
